Before I even became pregnant I knew I wanted to have a doula to help me through my pregnancy. I read that there were several benefits of having a doula. Seeing as this was my first pregnancy I knew I would be anxious about the symptoms I might experience as well as labor and delivery.
I tend to be a anxious individual. I like to be informed and organized whenever possible... I guess you could say I am a "control freak" to some extent. With this in mind I began to search for a doula in my area. After speaking with several doula's in my area I came across Megan's website and decided to contact her. Megan responded in a very timely matter and we met for the first time. I decided to hire Megan as my doula because she has lots of experience with birth and was very open to supporting me in whatever avenue I chose medicated or unmedicated child birth.
I found it imperative to have a doula who supported me and informed me so I could make the best decisions for the baby and myself. Throughout my pregnancy Megan would encourage me, reminding me that I was capable of birth and that I was going to do great. Throughout my pregnancy Megan would answer any questions I had to her best of knowledge and provided me with resources such a books and websites that allowed me better understand a pregnancy symptom I may have been experiencing or birth techniques that I could use in the future. Megan always responded in a timely manner and welcomed my questions or concerns. I am SO appreciative that I could text Megan whenever I needed because the Internet can make you extra anxious with all those pregnancy blogs and then the temptation to diagnose yourself! During my prenatal visits Megan showed me different techniques for labor, and she stayed until all of my questions were answered. She did a wonderful job making sure I was comfortable and confident.
When I finally went into labor at 1am Megan answered my call. I really surprised how upbeat she sounded when she answered. I appreciated this because I felt so bad to wake her! She talked with me for 40 minutes to help me distinguish if this was truly labor. She offered to drive over, but I knew it was best we rested so I continued to time my contractions and updated her through the night. At 6am my water broke and within the hour she met me at the hospital. With each contraction she offered to apply counter pressure to my back. This was helpful until about 10am, when the labor moved to my back. At that point I decided I did want an epidural and like I said before it was nice to know Megan supported me in this decision. I really wanted to try to give birth without medication, but back labor is so painful. Once the epidural took effect Megan massaged my feet! She made sure I was comfortable. I truly felt cared for. Every time I needed ice chips or the nurse to check my progress Megan happily got her. When I had questions about what was on the monitors she would let me know. It was nice that Megan was with me because it allowed me to have peace of mind that everything was going well or if there was reason for concern. Throughout labor Megan provided me with honey sticks which helped me maintain energy. They were also super tasty. When it came to delivery Megan was nothing but encouraging to me reminding me I was doing great! This was really helpful because I couldn't feel anything and didn't feel like I was doing great. Nonetheless, my baby girl was born after 10 minutes of pushing. Since she had pooped in the womb and had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck she was immediately placed at the newborn station on the other side of the room while the nurses checked her out. It was very comforting to have Megan by my side while my husband went to be with our daughter. I distinctly remember Megan stroking my head reminding me that I did great. I felt calm and cared for with Megan by my side. At no point did I feel alone during my birthing process and this definitely helped me keep my anxiety under control. After birth Megan got my husband and I food before ensuring there was nothing else we needed before she headed home. A week after birth she met me at my home for my postpartum visit and even helped me make PB snacks (breastfeeding makes you so hungry!) I was sad when Megan left, but she assured me that I could continue to reach out to her with any questions I had in the future. I would highly recommend Megan in the future as she is a trustworthy, educated, and supportive doula. I hope Megan will be available to assist me with my future pregnancies as well.
We love you Megan! We are blessed that you have been part of our pregnancy and birth. -Danielle, Brandon & Zoë Megan is truly amazing! If you don't know if you want a doula, trust me, you do! No matter if you are having a hospital or home birth, they can really alter your entire birth experience. I liked that Megan has experience in all types of births herself (I think two c-sections, two homebirths and one hospital epidural) so I hired her in July 2016 for the home birth of my son in September 2016. She was so very supportive about home birth and helped to assuage my many fears. I went into labor on Saturday night and even though my contractions weren't super close together, I asked her to come that night because I felt like I needed the support. My husband was an amazing birth coach and partner so Megan did a good job of giving us plenty of alone time but also being there to give my husband a break and also give ideas to help relieve pain. Along with my husband, she stayed up with me all night through every contraction. It ended up being a very long labor and I didn't tend to make progress unless I was walking so she was great at encouraging me to get walking so I would progress. After the birth, she stayed around and helped me as I was feeling quite dizzy from blood loss. I also used her placenta service (do this!!!) and got a smoothie, pills and the salve (my skin has seriously never looked so good - I want more but she told me I'll have to have another baby to get more)! I am forever grateful to her for all her support in the most important experience of my life. -Mandy B
Megan was amazing before, during, and after birth! My husband was deployed most of my pregnancy and for my birth. She went above and beyond and provided extra support when I really needed it. I couldn't recommend her more! Before delivery, she was offering resources and sharing her wisdom. During delivery, she was easy to talk things out with. She was my sounding board and rock. She had great suggestions on how to deal with the pain as well. After delivery she stayed until I could get into my room (which happened to be a looong time since there were complications after delivery). She also did my placenta encapsulation! I could NOT have done my vba2c successfully without her help! - Jamye O

I had my son in October of 2015 and Megan encapsulated my placenta for me, she was extremely professional and prompt and I truly appreciated her. I'm now having my second baby due in June and I am extremely excited to be using Megan's services again. She is always checking in on us and so sweet. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for placenta encapsulation!! - Denise F Words can not express how happy I was and still am that I found Megan! The entire process, start to finish was simple. And Megan was very helpful throughout. Answering any and all questions that I had. When I finally went into labor (I was a week overdue) she made it to the hospital right after the Golden Hour , took my placenta home and brought it back the next day!!! Not only did I get my placenta encapsulated but she also made me 5-6 beautiful placenta prints, an umbilical cord keepsake and salve that helped me to heal faster and the placenta broth for use later! Besides how awesome she is. The benefits of placenta encapsulation are what help to seal the deal. I did a lot of research before finally deciding to move forward and I am completely satisfied with my decision. Love love love her! There was a confusion that was totally my fault yet she was so polite and professional and fixed everything very quickly. I love my capsules and will recommend her to everyone. She's the sweetest! - Simone L
Professional, patient and caring. I would recommend her services to anyone. I ordered anything and everything you could. She also came to my hotel room the day I delivered and made new smoothie. I had terrible PPD with my first child so I was willing to try anything the second time around. I heard about encapsulation and I have to say it was a miracle for my family and I. It helped me so much. And she was willing to work with me. I have recommended her to 4 friends now and I will continue to do so. - Angelique S
Megan is honestly, such a fabulous woman. She made this whole experience for me so easy. I wasn't totally educated about Placenta Encapsulation, so before I had my sweet little guy, I was calling around to get more information on this process, and the majority of the women that I called, were very blunt and in a rush to just make a sale. They didn't care about me or my concerns. Megan actually took the time to educate me about this whole process and what more, but the benefits of it all. As if that wasn't enough, she sounded so flattered that I even asked her all of these questions. When I was FINALLY in labor, Megan rushed to the hospital to patiently wait for my placenta, and believe it or not, she had my product back to me before I even left the hospital! - Nicole J
